About Us

North Shreve Steel, also known as North Shreve Welding & Construction, was started in 1981 by Roger A. Johnson with one employee. He started the business repairing and painting horse trailers, and repairing agriculture equipment. In 1988 Roger's brother Chip Johnson joined the company full time. The company was incorporated in 1993 as North Shreve Enterprises, Inc., DBA North Shreve Welding & Construction, and now employs 18 full time people and 3 part time people. Managerial and supervisory staff include: President- Roger A. Johnson, Vice President- Chip B. Johnson, and Secretary/Treasurer- Linda P. Johnson. Roger and Chip have over 50 years combined experience in the steel fabrication and construction industry.

North Shreve Steel is located 3 miles north of Shreveport, Louisiana on Highway 71 North, and is a very diversified company. We are metal buildings as well as 1 to 3 story structural steel heavily involved in the fabrication and erection of buildings, and general contracting. We also manufacture and distribute hydraulic dump trailers all over the United States, as well as build custom trailers, custom truck beds, ornamental fences, gates and railings, as well as our own line of arena drags. One area of expertise is metal building additions. We fabricate our own metal buildings, which allows us to easily add on to existing buildings.

We also have our own drafting department, enabling us to custom design the additions. Some of our buildings and building additions that can be seen around the Shreveport/Bossier area include the Fuel Injection Plus building on North Market Street, Kwik Copy Printing on Youree Drive, Greenwood Acres Full Gospel Baptist Church Family Life Center on Greenwood Road, The Donut Shop on Barksdale Blvd, Arklatex TV VCR Repair on North Market Street, the Maintenance Building & temporary Pro Shop and Cart Building at Stonebridge golf course, and Nolan Car Repair Center. We have fabricated steel for the Petco and Party City stores at Bayou Walk Shopping Center, the new community center and gymnasium at A. B. Palmer Park, the new Haughton Middle School, the National Guard Armory in Ruston, Walk-way canopies at Benton Middle School, Con Agra expansion in Farmerville, and the fence around the Federal Courthouse in downtown Shreveport just to name a few. We are also involved in several major ongoing projects at Barksdale Air Force Base.

We have recently completed construction on a new 9300 square foot shop building with 10 ton capacity overhead cranes, enabling us to fabricate larger items in the future.
